A village in Rawalpindi District of Pakistan's Punjab province has been named after Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate.

Social activist Baseer Ahmad took to Twitter to share this news.

"The village has been named 'Malala' near #Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi," Ahmad tweeted.

Malala Yousafzai arrived in Pakistan last month, after spending about six years abroad.

During her four-day stay in Pakistan, the advocate for women empowerment visited Swat Valley, her native place.

Malala also met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi amid strict security in view of her homecoming. Her arrival was kept secret due to security reasons.
