Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur on Thursday filed an application before the Supreme Court asking it to recall its earlier order of removing him from his post.
In his appeal, Thakur said that the remarks made against him caused him 'public embarrassment and personal anguish'.
He has also pleaded to be a party in the Cricket Association of Bihar vs BCCI case which led to the formation of the Lodha Committee and implementation of its recommendations.
On January 2, 2017, the top court removed Thakur and Ajay Shirke, from their respective posts of BCCI president and board secretary for their failure to bring transparency and accountability to the Indian cricket board and their non-compliance of the court's July 18, 2016 order.
Earlier in a landmark judgment on July 18, 2016, the Supreme Court accepted major recommendations of Justice Lodha-led panel on structural reforms in the BCCI and had given six months deadline to the board implement the recommendations.
