Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) head of operations Ratnakar Shetty on Tuesday said the board respected M S Dhoni's decision to call curtains on his Test career, adding that he hoped the skipper will give his best shot at the upcoming 2015 World Cup.

"He has been a popular captain. He brought India to number one ranking in Tests. He must focus now on the 2015 World Cup. We hope he'll give his best shot. We respect M S Dhoni's views. We have accepted his decision and have appointed Virat Kohli [as captain] for fourth Australian Test," said Shetty.

Dhoni, who led India to the number one position in the Test rankings, had earlier in the day announced his retirement from Test cricket in order to concentrate on the one day international (ODI) and T20 formats.

The BCCI, in a statement, thanked Dhoni for his enormous contribution to Test cricket and the laurels that he brought for India.
