Former England footballer Robbie Fowler was announced as the coach of Brisbane Roar (A-League club) on Tuesday and he will lead the team for the next two seasons.
"I am really looking forward to the challenge and am determined to bring success to a club that has such a proud history in the Hyundai A-League. I am really keen to get started and make a difference," newly appointed BRFC Head Coach Robbie Fowler said in an official statement.
"My family and I have already experienced living in Queensland, so I'm really happy to be returning and being part of the Brisbane Roar family," he added.
Liverpool legend Fowler revealed he was keen to return to Brisbane to kickstart his coaching career after witnessing the state during his A-League playing career.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome Robbie to our proud and successful football club, BRFC is confident that we have appointed an outstanding person and someone who is hungry to succeed," Brisbane Roar Chief Executive, David Pourre said in an official statement.
Fowler only has senior coaching experience at one club- Thailand's Muangthong United - where he took the reins as player-manager in 2011 for part of a season.
The 44-year old Fowler made his name during his playing days at Liverpool where he earned the nickname "God" as he scored 128 goals for the club. He has also played for Leeds United and Manchester City in the Premier League.
Brisbane Roar is currently placed on the second-last position on the A-League table with only four wins from 26 matches.
