Australian opener Chris Rogers is admitted he was aware that he was in danger of losing his Test place in the second match against South Africa at Port Elizabeth, which his team lost by 231 runs following a 281-run victory in the first Test.

The courageous but ultimately fruitless 107 failed to take the second Test into a final day as Australia was trounced but ensured that Rogers will remain part of the Australian set-up.

According to News.com.au, as Australia prepared for a heavyweight showdown to break the 1-1 series deadlock in the third and final Test, Rogers said that he knew he was under pressure despite making three centuries in his last four Tests, adding that Shane Watson was a good chance to play in the last game.

Rogers however, said that it is almost relieving for him to just go out and play 'the situation of the game' instead of worrying unduly, adding that the fact that he decided to stop trying too hard may have helped him in making the century and ensuring his place for the third Test.
