Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader M.G. Vaidya today defended party Chief Mohan Bhagwat's pro-Hindu nation remark, saying that there was nothing wrong in his statement.
Vaidya even criticized the people for protesting against this remark, and said that they don't understand Hindutva.
"There is nothing wrong in it. What Mohan Bhagwat had said is not a new mantra of the RSS, but it prevailed since 1935, and those who are opposing it, don't understand Hindu or Hindutva and the nation. They believe in western culture which is unfortunate for India, as it does not happen anywhere else," Vaidya.
He added that it's because of a majority Hindu population in India that it is a secular country.
Bhagwat attracted criticism when he said recently that "Hindustan is a Hindu nation...Hindutva is the identity of our nation and it (Hinduism) can incorporate others (religions) in itself."
Last week, Bhagwat had made a similar remark in Cuttack, Odisha, where he said, "The cultural identity of all Indians is Hindutva and the present inhabitants of the country are descendants of this great culture.
