Russia's Fedor Bondarchuk has been signed to direct the upcoming Greek epic film 'Odysseus' by Warner Bros.

The large-scale film which is based on the poem The Odyssey by Homer, will tell the story about the Greek king who had been away for a decade fighting the Trojan War and returns home, Deadline.com reported.

Jeremy Doner is writing the script for the project, which will be produced by Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari, Bernie Goldmann and Shannon Gaulding, along with Bondarchuk's partners Michael Schlicht and Paul Heth.

Bondarchuk, who's the son of Oscar-winning director Sergey Bondarchuk, had helmed WWII film 'Stalingrad' in 2013, which was Russia's first movie to be filmed in Imax 3D format and was nominated for multiple international prizes.
