Sacked Man U employee claims Moyes rejected Fergie's advice on staff hiring

Manchester United boss David Moyes had reportedly rejected former boss Sir Alex Ferguson's advice on whom to hire and whom to axe at Old Trafford.

The allegations were made by sacked United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, who was let go along with assistant manager Mike Phelan and first-team coach Rene Meulensteen at the end of the season as Moyes decided to install his own support staff.

According to the Mirror, the former Everton boss and Ferguson's countryman brought Chris Woods, Steve Round and Jimmy Lumsden with him from Goodison Park, while appointing former United and Everton player Phil Neville to his first-ever coaching role.

Claiming that Ferguson offered his guidance which was dismissed by Moyes in order to forge his own path at the club, Steele, who is credited for David De Gea's vast improvement at United, said that even though Moyes listened to Ferguson, he wanted to be his own man.

According to Steele, United would not have suffered a poor start to the season, which culminated with Saturday's shock home defeat to West Bromwich Albion, if Moyes kept on the old backroom staff at the Old Trafford, adding that they were a part of the team that had a good last season and won the Premier League.
