Asserting that Uttar Pradesh has developed the most under Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's regime despite all efforts by some unwanted elements to flare communal tension, the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made no contribution despite its 73 lawmakers representing the state in Parliament.
Samajwadi Party leader Rajendra Chowdhary said that the ruling party continued to serve the state despite all hindrances.
"The kind of development work has taken place under the leadership of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh has not happened in any of the states in the nation. And this is also a fact that the kind of development which has taken place in Uttar Pradesh under Akhilesh ji never happened before," said Chowdhary.
"Many challenges came in front of the SP Government. The communal powers tried a lot to disturb us but despite all efforts made to create unrest the SP Government sailed through," he added.
The Samajwadi Party leader also lambasted the BJP for doing nothing for Uttar Pradesh's progress.
"The BJP has done nothing for the state. Despite the BJP's 73 MPs representing the state in Parliament, no efforts have been made by the party," he told ANI.
The election for 403 assembly seats will be held in the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh next year.
In the previous election in 2012, the Samajwadi Party formed the government with majority.
