The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that the Samajwadi Party 'from the grassroot level to the top most level' has the 'character' of creating law and order problems in Uttar Pradesh.

"Whenever Samajwadi Party came to power in Uttar Pradesh, they always created a law and order problem, distorted the entire government establishment and the bureaucracy. There have been numerous incidents in the previous years when the Samajwadi Party workers were chasing and beating the police personnel. I would like to remind you how a Samajwadi Party MLA was threatening IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal of Noida. Now a seniormost leader tried to threaten an IPS officer," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told ANI here.

"From the grassroot level to the topmost level, the entire Samajwadi Party is having the same character. So, there cannot be a ray of hope for anybody under Samajwadi Party rule, whether it be a common man, or an officer," he added.

IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had threatened him over the phone, asking him to 'mend his ways'.

The IPS officer said he was worried about his safety and will seek security.

"I am hurt and a little worried because of this incident. But I've decided I won't leave the cadre or this place. Me and my wife don't feel safe. We will reach out and seek security," he said.
