Schumi's step-brother 'incredibly lucky' as he narrowly missed travelling on crashed Germanwings flight

Stricken Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's step-brother's luck was with him as he narrowly avoided travelling on the ill-fated Germanwings flight that crashed and killed all 150 people on-board.

Former A1GP driver Sebastian Stahl was in Barcelona on an advertising shoot for car firm Seat before the horror smash in the French Alps. The crew almost delayed their departure by 24 hours due to heavy rain in the Spanish city, which meant that Stahl would likely have flown on the fateful Airbus A320.

Luckily for Stahl, the team made a last-minute decision to stick to their original plans, but, with his name reported to be on the passenger list for tragic Flight 4U9525, he has revealed how many of his friends and family believed he was dead, The Daily Star reported.

Stahl claimed that he is alive, adding that it's is crazy how many friends and people he has said that to in the last few hours. He said that he came back 24 hours early on the same Germanwings plane from Barcelona to Cologne.

Stahl said that he had incredible luck after his work colleagues had considered extending their trip to a racetrack by a day. He revealed that they had considered a day to extend and rotate the next day, adding that then he would have rebooked and probably sat in the disaster-machine, insisting that luckily the track was not hired.

Stahl said that he flew directly over the mountains in the southern French Alps where Flight 9525 was intentionally and deliberately downed by co-pilot Andreas Lubitz last Tuesday.

Speaking of his older step-brother, Schumacher who was in a coma for six months after a skiing accident in 2013, Stahl said that he sends him all the strength he had, so the seven time world champion would be fine.
