Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday stated that if Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko wants to play with the idea of Tamil Nadu's secession from India, then he has no place within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
'If Vaiko wants to run a secessionist Tamil Nadu, he has no place in the NDA," Swami said to media here.
Taking a critical view of the BJP-led NDA government's approach towards Sri Lanka over a number of issues, ranging from the arrest fishermen, the invitation to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in and the continuing defence ties with that nation, Vaiko has warned the Centre of facing consequences of adopting such an approach.
The MDMK chief had also accused the previous UPA regime of helping Sri Lanka during its fight against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
