Despite a session of volatility and fall in the market, the Sensex closed down 150.77 points trading at 25705.93.
The Nifty also faced a weak trend by slipping about 43.15 points at 7829.10.
About 1101 shares advanced, 1518 shares declined, and 104 others were unchanged in the trading today.
HUL, Sun Pharma, ITC, Reliance and NTPC were amongst the top gainers while Tata Steel, Vedanta, Tata Motors, Hindalco and L&T were among the laggards.
