The seven separatists arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in terror funding case today, will be produced before a Delhi court tomorrow.
"We had registered a terror funding case related to J&K on May 30 this year under various sections of IPC and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Thereafter we conducted wide-ranging searches in several cities and collected incriminating documentary and electronic evidence. We have also seized large amount of cash. Based on the evidence we have collected and subsequent in examinations of persons today we have arrested seven persons, six from Srinagar and one from Delhi," Alok Mittal, IG, NIA, told ANI.
"All six arrested in Srinagar will be brought to Delhi today and all seven accused will be produced in the court tomorrow in Delhi," he added
He further said the evidences which have been collected so far clearly prove the financial trail and the direct link between terror activities and its funding.
The seven separatists include Naeem Khan , Bitta Karate, Altaf Funtus, Ayaz Akbar, T. Saifullah , Meraz Kalwal and Saheed Ul Islam.
Six of them were arrested from Srinagar while Bitta Karate was arrested from New Delhi.
The NIA, earlier in May, visited Srinagar to probe into the alleged funding by Pakistan for illegal activities in Kashmir, and questioned the separatist leaders regarding their involvement in raising, collecting and transferring funds through Hawala and other channels for terror funding in Kashmir.
The sleuths from the agency have questioned separatist leaders Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate and Gazi Javed Baba in the case.
The NIA is probing all aspects of funding of separatist leaders and use of these funds in fuelling the unrest in the Valley.
