The UK government has recently donated 1.5 millions pound for translating William Shakespeare's complete work into Mandarin for audiences in China, it has been reported.
Sajid Javid, Culture secretary, also announced 300,000 pounds of funds for a series of museum exchanges with the British Museum for the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) tour of China, the BBC reported.
The British Conservative Party politician said that culture was a "brilliant" way of fostering closer UK-China ties.
This funding means Western and Eastern cultures could learn and be enriched by one another and there's no better way of doing that than using the works of Shakespeare, he further added.
The RSC would undertake the first translation of the Bard's total works in Mandarin. And they also plan to include 14 important Chinese plays available in English for cultural co-operation with China.
