Expressing concern over the online leak of 'Udta Punjab', Bollywood actor Aamir Khan on Thursday said it was big shame for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) if a censored copy has come out on Torrent.
Aamir, who is shooting for his upcoming flick 'Dangal' in Ludhiana, also welcomed the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to clear the film.
Addressing a press conference, Aamir said, "If it is a censored copy that has come out on Torrent then it is a big shame for the CBFC. It is something which will reflect very badly on the CBFC, if it is a raw copy."
"If it is not a censored copy then piracy is an issue we have been fighting for very long and unfortunately what I personally feel, when a common man sees a pirated copy of the film, he is unaware of the fact that it is actually a theft," he added.
The Bollywood actor said that sensitivity regarding piracy should be increased in the society.
Earlier, in an attempt to dissuade fans from getting access to pirated films, the star took to Twitter and urged them to watch the movie in theatres.
"Let's support free speech. Let's watch Udta Punjab only in theatres. Don't let pirates and piracy win. Love," he had tweeted.
Yesterday afternoon, it emerged that the Abhishek Chaubey directorial- which has been in news for the makers' run-in with the censor board- was available on torrent sites for illegal download.
However, soon the download links were "removed due to a copyright complaint", the websites read.
Udta Punjab, the movie which stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead role, has been passed with A certificate and will hit the theatres tomorrow.
The Bombay High Court had on June 13 cleared the release of ' Udta Punjab', whose makers were locked in a dispute with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The CBFC yesterday issued a fresh release certificate to ' Udta Punjab' after the Bombay High Court passed the film with just one cut and three disclaimers.
