Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shazia Ilmi on Wednesday said former law minister Shanti Bhushan's disappointment over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fielding candidates with tainted background and criminal records should be given serious consideration.
"There has to be a valid reason why some people were given tickets in AAP, what he [Bhusahn] has said is food for thought," Ilmi said.
According to reports, Shanti Bhushan did not congratulate AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on his party's landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. He said that the AAP leadership had diverted from its objectives by giving tickets to around 15 to 20 people with tainted backgrounds.
Bhushan has reportedly said that Kejriwal had regretted giving tickets to candidates with corrupt and criminal backgrounds.
The AAP made a clean sweep of the Delhi polls yesterday winning 67 of the 70 assembly seats. The BJP managed to win just three seats while the Congress failed to open its account this time.
