A 35-year-old man attempted suicide here in Siddipet on Saturday morning claiming that his wife refused to stay with him.
According to police, at about 11.30 am, the man identified Yadagiri jumped off from a water tank.
"He was immediately shifted to a local hospital and the doctors declared him brain dead. Later he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment and is in coma and undergoing treatment," said Joel Davis, Commissioner of Police, Siddipet.
Yadagiri's wife claimed he used to beat her up regularly after consuming alcohol and that she had been staying with her parents since the last few months.
According to police, Yadagiri tried to convince his wife to stay with him but she refused after which he was allegedly depressed and attempted to commit suicide.
