Simon Cowell has urged people around the world to take a stand towards the cruel treatment of dogs in China.
The 'X Factor' boss, who owns two Yorkshire terriers, said that it was really hard for him to talk about the horrific Yulin Dog and Cat Meat festival, where around 10,000 dogs and cats were killed, the Mirror has reported.
The 55-year-old TV show producer also said that unless everyone did something, it won't stop, and hence people had to act now to end such barbaric and disgusting events forever.
Notably, a video of howling dogs being bludgeoned to death was recently revealed wherein their hair was burned off with a blow torch before they were thrown in boiling water.
Simon has urged his 12 million Twitter followers to sign a petition hosted by campaigners' Humane Society International, calling for it to be banned.
Every time a person signs, it triggers a message opposing the event being sent to Peng Qinghua, the Communist Party chief of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Chinese locals annually gather at the festival to eat dog meat and lychees to celebrate summer solstice.
