Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the efforts of the common man, saying it is the small people who shape history and bring a change in society.
"Those whom society considers inferior have a major contribution to society and their contribution can't be forgotten. It is a misfortune that a lot of things that were written were only about royalty, rulers, and their styles," Prime Minister Modi said at an award function.
Prime Minister Modi further asked as to why society fails to recognize the importance of a teacher who shapes so many lives in his lifetime.
"Why is it that a teacher who shaped many lives, has no road or 'chowk' after him or her; whereas a corporator does have that?" Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Modi felicitated the awardees at the Amazing Indians Awards organised by a private news channel.
