Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday met the farmers of Darbiji village of Sultanpur Tehsil in Rajasthan and assessed the loss suffered by them due to the recent hailstorm.

Gandhi said that the party would keep the demands of the farmers before the Centre.

"We will keep their demands in front of the Government. We will fight for them. Everyone is asking for help, they want a legitimate compensation," she told the media.

Earlier this week, unseasonal rain and hailstorm had destroyed crops in 26 out of 33 districts in Rajasthan with more than three thousand villages reporting loss of half of the crop production.
