Leaderships of South Africa and Sri Lanka are meeting here this week for talks on ways to arrive at acceptable solutions to the long-standing ethnic conflict.
Talks will be taking place between South Africa's Deputy President and Special Envoy to Sri Lanka, Cyril Ramaphosa, and Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Gamini Peiris.
Ramaphosa is also expected to call on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Tamil National Alliance leaders in this regard.
According to a United Nations Human Rights Commission resolution passed in the year gone by, decks have been cleared for foreign mediation in the reconciliation process in Sri Lanka following the end of the nearly three-decade-long Tamil separatist war in May 2009.
