The gunman who is believed to have killed nine people at a historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina, has reportedly been arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested 21-year-old Dylann Roof of Lexington, South Carolina, during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina, reported the BBC.
The suspect is said to have attended the Bible study meeting for a full hour before opening fire on the group, killing six women and three men, including the church pastor. A hate crimes probe had then been launched.
The attack was condemned by U.S. President Barack Obama, who said that he and his wife knew several members of the Emanuel AME Church, including the pastor, Clementa Pinckney.
