New Real Madrid player Gareth Bale has reportedly reached Usain Bolt-like speed during Sunday's La Liga 2-2 draw with Villarreal, after he was clocked at 40 kilometers per hour, or 24.85 metres per hour, during the game.
Bale's speed is just 3 mph less than the 'world's fastest man' Bolt's record speed of 27.79 mph during the 100 metres event at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin.
According to the New York Daily News, Bale's speed is astonishing considering that the Welsh international was playing in only his second competitive game in months after sitting out most of the last season with a muscle injury, with Wales national team coach Chris Coleman even warning that Bale is not fit enough to play an entire game.
The report mentioned that Bale, who moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Madrid last month for a reported 132 million-dollar transfer fee, is expected to get even more faster and better with each passing game.
However, Bale admitted that he is not too sure about his fitness as he had no game time during the summer, adding that he needs to get game time under his belt and get his fitness up as quick as he can.
