Steve McQueen's 1967 Ferrari could fetch 8 million pounds at an auction in Monterey, California in August.
'The Great Escape' star took the delivery of the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 on the set of the film 'Bullitt', the Daily Express reported.
Max Girado, of RM Auctions, said when it came to cars with celebrity provenance, it did not get any better than this.
The American actor had resprayed the car from silver to red and fitted wheels from his Ferrari NART Spyder, which he had crashed and he kept the 165mph car until 1971and later sold it to fellow actor Guy Williams.
The current owner Vern Schuppan, an Australian-born Le Mans winner apparently spent a six-figure sum to restore the car.
