South Africa's pace spearhead Dale Steyn and batsman Hashim Amla have revealed that they are not focused on the Test rankings, post their recent innings and 220-run win over a beleaguered West Indies team in Centurion on Saturday.

South African squad is in little danger of losing their number one ranking in Tests, as a series victory by any margin against the West Indies, who are plagued by pay disputes, player withdrawals, injuries and poor form, would maintain their position at the top of the ratings.

Fast bowler Steyn honestly questioned if they were not number one now when he was asked if he thought about South Africa's number one ranking being on the line in the series, Sport24 reported.

Elaborating on Steyn's response, Amla stated that he believes the paceman's reply of 'are we number one?' kind of reveals that it's not a main focus for them. He added that they are not sure what's going to happen in Australia, and are doing what they do best.

Although Australia currently lead India 2-0 at the halfway stage of their four-Test series, even a series whitewash for the hosts would not be enough to surpass South Africa if they win their three-Test series against the West Indies.

The skipper claimed that they are just trying to win the series, adding that everything else would take care of itself. He stated that it is about keeping the consistency going.
