Students from Delhi today met the Union Minister of Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to demand a state wise quota in Delhi University (DU).
One of the students, Sukriti, said that they had raised their issues in front of Dr Vardhan, who assured them then that he would talk to Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Smriti Irani about this issue.
Another student, Harry Kapoor, said that they wanted to take admission in DU but were unable to do so because of the high cut-offs.
He said that even after scoring 97 per cent, Delhi students were unable to get admission as students from other states grabbed the seats in DU.
He also said that in some colleges there were only about 20 per cent students from Delhi and the rest were from outside.
Kapoor added, "As every states gives a quota of 85 percent to their students in the state university that's how they should also get the quota. This was promised in the BJP's manifesto, and the students want this to be implemented from this year itself.
