Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has reportedly been slammed by his maternal grandmother for not getting in touch with her over a family dispute that has allegedly left her homeless and in a nursing home.

Disabled Maria Josefa Reyes claimed that her daughter and Suarez's mother has thrown her out of the luxury house he bought them back in his Uruguay homeland and thrown away her belongings after a family rift.

According to the Mirror, Reyes, a retired nurse, claimed that Suarez has not called her even though he must be aware of the happenings as he and his brother Paulo just do whatever their mother tells them, adding that she had lived contently for years in a flat, part of a home the star bought for his mother years ago in a beach resort.

Reyes now claimed that she has had to move into an old people's home, adding that she will ask the local council for money for construction materials so she can build herself somewhere to live.

However, a source close to Suarez said that the claim is not true and that the family is 'united', and Paulo, also a professional footballer, agreed, saying that both he and his brother are upset as the issue has made them look like they are in the wrong.

Paulo also said that he believes his grandmother has strayed offside on the issue, adding that the reality is his grandmother has practically two houses to live in.

Suarez is on a high with Liverpool at the moment as he has scored 23 goals this season after the club rejected a 40 million-pound offer for him from Arsenal in the summer, the report added.
