Jessie Burton's 'The Miniaturist' has been voted Specsavers book of year 2014, it has been reported.

The thriller was among the 10 winners from November's National Book Awards that went forward to a public vote to be named the winner, the BBC reported.

Burton, who beat authors like David Nicholls and Karen Joy Fowler, said she was grateful forever to the voting public for this implausible honour.

There are always stories to write and people who want to read them, and as the year closes, she found this news very heartening indeed, she further added.
