The first session of the newly constituted Tamil Nadu Assembly begins today with address of Governor K.Rosiah.
After the address, the House Business Advisory Committee headed by Speaker Dhanapal will decide on the duration of the session.
It is expected that the Governor in his address would reiterate the commitment of the government in fulfilling the ruling AIADMK's poll promises and list out some of the steps already being taken.
The various features of the memorandum Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa recently submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi are also expected to figure in his address.
Meanwhile, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) that has got considerably more strength as compared to the previous Assembly has said it would serve as a constructive opposition.
