Kiran Rao and Siddharth Roy Kapoor recently launched the first teaser of Anand Gandhi's award winning directorial venture 'Ship Of Theseus', in Mumbai.
The film, which received a lot of critical acclaim in film festivals across the world, will now be distributed by UTV Motion Pictures.
Speaking on the occasion, Kapoor, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, said that the film will appeal to a certain section of people, who follow such movies.
"It's a film that has received tremendous amount of acclaim in all the film festivals it has been to in a certain circuit of people who follow films of this nature. They have been hailing it as one of the important Indian films that has come out in the last five years or a decade," he said
"Some have even gone on to say that...we don't want to say unless you do that it is the most important Indian films that have been made," Kapoor added.
Producer Kiran Rao said that she is proud to be associated with the film and regards it as one of the best Indian movie.
" I went to Russian cultural center one afternoon and I literally had my head blown away because I saw 'Ship of Theseus' and I remember coming out and waiting as Anand was being mobbed by the whole crowd of the theater. So he was slowly making his way out and I remember waiting out and grabbing hold of him and shaking his hand for 5 minutes because I thought genuinely it was one of the best films I have seen in my life," the filmmaker said.
She insisted that the film has such a great scope and deep impact that she was just completely blown away.
Meanwhile, the debutant director Gandhi said that he has made the film for masses and not just for a certain section of society.
"I would really appreciate if everyone sees the film. When I made the film I never had the idea of making the film for only certain set of audience," he said.
"I really imagined that there is definitely a huge audience out there who like me and my friends have from a very long time having wanted to have this conversation and have this dialogue for a very long time with the culture they are consuming and I made the film just knowing that, that's my audience," the 32-year-old director added.
