U.S. President Donald Trump has hired Washington legal veteran John Dowd to assist his personal legal team in its handling the special counsel's probe about Russian meddling in the 2016 election, according to media reports.
76-year-old former prosecutor has formerly represented Dowd's history includes representing Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., during the Keating Five Scandal and Pete Rose for Major League Baseball.
He will work alongside Marc Kasowitz, Mark Bowe and Jay Sekulow in helping Trump address federal officials' questions about his campaign.
Special counsel Robert Mueller this week, broadened the probe with the President now under investigation for obstruction of justice in probe regarding possible collusion by his campaign with the Kremlin.
Yesterday, Trump acknowledged in a tweet that he is being investigated.
""I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt," Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to his May 9 dismissal of James Comey.
Meanwhile, Mueller has brought 13 lawyers on board to handle the Russia investigation, with plans to hire more.
He has assembled a high-powered team of top investigators and leading experts, including seasoned attorneys who've represented major American companies in court and who have worked on cases ranging from Watergate to the Enron fraud scandal, reports the CNN.
