Trump administration has cancelled the scheduled informal talks between a North Korean delegation and a team of former U.S. officials by withdrawing its initial approval of the North Koreans' visas.

A six-member team of North Koreans led by Choe Son-hui, the director of the American affairs bureau of the country's foreign ministry and the US experts were scheduled to hold the back-channel talks in New York for next week.

CNN quoted the two people who had planned to participate in meeting as saying that a follow email was sent to the participants of the meeting after an earlier email had said that meeting would proceed as scheduled by Donald Zagoria, the head of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, an advocacy group that was organizing the talks , saying the visas were not approved and the talks have been called off.

This move comes after the announcement by the Malaysian Government that VX nerve agent was used to assassinate Kim Jong-nam on February 13 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

VX nerve agent is classified as a weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations due to its extreme chemical toxic nature.

Trump administration officials even did not considered State Department in cancelling the talks as the latter supported the talks.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half-brother, Kim Jong Nam died on February 13 after a suspected poisoning while on his way to catch a flight to the Chinese territory of Macau from Kuala Lumpur.
