US President Donald Trump called for proper forest management to combat California's wildfires, days after threatening to cut off federal payments due to mismanagement.
"With proper Forest Management, we can stop the devastation constantly going on in California. Get Smart!" Trump tweeted on Sunday.
He previously slammed forest management in the state on November 10 and had tweeted, "There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"
The US President has urged the affected citizens of California to evacuate, lest they are "overtaken by the fire".
As many as 23 people have died so far in the catastrophic fires which have burned over 1,70,000 acres of land. Nearly 300,000 people have been displaced, including Hollywood celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Lady Gaga.
The blaze had started on Thursday night (local time), and moved towards Malibu and the Pacific Ocean, prompting evacuations in Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, and other neighbouring regions.
