United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon is urging the Pakistani government to end executions of terrorists and restore the moratorium on the death penalty that was lifted following the Peshawar school massacre.
According to Dawn News, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that all legal norms would be respected.
Ban spoke to Sharif on Thursday to express condolences after the Taliban school massacre that killed 141 people.
Sharif ended the six-year moratorium on the death penalty in the wake of the deadliest attack in the history of Pakistan.
Pakistan earlier said that it plans to execute at least 500 militants in the coming weeks.
