Universal Pictures debuts its new Dark Universe

The universe is going to be dark and spooky.

Universal Pictures launched their newly created shared universe titled 'Dark Universe' by posting a video on Twitter.

They captioned the video, "Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters. #DarkUniverse."

The studio also shared the first look photo of the Dark Universe stars, which includes the likes of Johnny Depp (The Invisible Man), Tom Cruise (Nick Morton), Russell Crowe (Dr. Jekyll) and Sofia Boutella (The Mummy).

They captioned the snap, "Witness the beginning of a #DarkUniverse."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio also announced the release date of 'Bride of Frankenstein'.

The movie is slated to hit the screens February 14, 2019.

The film will be the "story of a very modern woman in a very classic tale."

Universal said casting for the lead character, first played by Elsa Lanchester in the 1935 classic, will be announced soon.

The first movie in the studio's monsters universe will be 'The Mummy' which will hit theatres on June 19 and stars Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. The flick is helmed by Alex Kurtzman.

Universal has also released a logo and sizzle reel for Dark Universe, which draws from the studio's long history of monster films dating back to the golden age of Hollywood.
