The driver of Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar was arrested on Monday for the accidental death of a minor boy by the politician's convoy in Gonda.
The car which mowed down the eight-year-old on October 28 was seized as well.
The boy was playing on the footpath late on Saturday evening when the car allegedly drove over him.
The convoy reportedly did not stop for the victim's aid after the incident.
The boy died on the spot.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the next of kin of the victim.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Rajbhar said he was deeply saddened by the incident and have asked the police to find the car which hit the boy and arrest the culprit as soon as possible.
