Carrying forward the 'Usha Kiran Kendras' initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday informed that centers to provide services like medication, legal aid, police help, skill training and counseling - all under one roof - to women and girls of domestic violence, assault and abuse cases would be established in all districts of the state.

"Violence affected women to get all facilities under one roof, Usha Kiran centers to be opened in all districts of MP," tweeted Chouhan.

Under the scheme, 51 districts of the state will get the centers, which provide assistance to women, who are victims of violence, including physical, sexual, emotional, psychological harassment, economic abuse, trafficking, honour crimes, acid attacks and witch-hunting.

These centers will be staffed by a psychiatrist or a counselor, a doctor, two legal experts and a couple of woman police constables besides having shelters home for women, who have been abandoned by their families.

The scheme aims to provide setting up government-run shelter homes that would take care of aggrieved women, who could live there till they desire.

The scheme was implemented on the recommendations of a committee that was set up in the aftermath of public uproar against the brutal December 16 gang-rape in the national capital.

'Usha Kiran Kendra' was first launched in 2007, two years after the Domestic Violence Act was passed.
