Victoria Police on Tuesday said that they have charged a second boy for alleged serious assault on two men, believed to be Indian students.
Natalie Webster, Media Officer, Victoria Police, said in a statement released today that they have charged a 17-year-old Sydenham boy for intentionally causing serious injury, robbery and theft on two men at Birrarung Marr on Sunday morning.
He faced an out of sessions court hearing this evening and has been remanded in custody to appear at a children's court on January 2, said Webster in her statement.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old Ascot Vale boy has been released and is expected to be charged on summons.
Earlier, a 16 year-old St. Albans boy was charged with serious assault and remanded in custody.
Investigators continue to search for five others believed to be involved in the incident and appeal for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppers.com.
