Australian Test batsman David Warner has said that sessions with a sports psychologist have put him in a good headspace ahead of the Ashes.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Warner returned from Britain down on confidence and with some serious decisions to make following a largely forgettable Ashes tour, in which he missed the first two Tests after a run-in with England's Joe Root.
He said Michael Lloyd had helped him prioritise his thoughts as he tried to force his way back into the Australia side for the Ashes series, in which he will partner Chris Rogers at the top of the order, according to the report.
He also said Lloyd helped him embrace the notion that patience wasn't a dirty word when batting, silencing the devil on his shoulder that urged him to lash out at deliveries not designed to be swiped over the fence, the report mentioned.
Combined with a new love in ironwoman Candice Falzon, technique refinements with batting coach Trent Woodhill and deep and meaningfuls with Lloyd, Warner is confident he comes into this series a more resilient and discerning cricketer, the report said.
