Elated with the historic win over West Indies in the recently concluded three-match Test series, former Pakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has insisted that his team have accomplished a feat which many teams across the world only dream of.
Pakistan on Sunday clinched a thrilling 101-run win in the third and final Test with six balls to spare to seal a first series victory in the West Indies, thus giving one of the most heart-stopping send-off possible to retiring Misbah and Younis.
"I am happy with my performance. Winning in the West Indies will be something I will always remember," the Dawn quoted Misbah as saying as he arrived at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore on Wednesday morning.
The 42-year-old, who was accompanied by his wife, was welcomed with cheers and was greeted by family members, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials and fans as he walked out of the arrival lounge.
"We have accomplished a feat many teams across the world only dream of," he said.
"These sorts of victories will help bring fresh talent into the spotlight. It is crucial that we keep succeeding like this," he added.
He also expressed gratitude to the entire nation for their prayers and support.
"I'm grateful to the nation for all their prayers and support," Misbah said.
Misbah played 75 Test matches, scoring 5,222 runs and is currently seventh on the list of Pakistan's highest Test run-getters.
The 42-year-old also inspired Pakistan to the top of the ICC Test team rankings for the first time in history. Although their stint at the top was short-lived as India replaced them.
