West Bengal panchayat polls end with 65 percent of votes for last phase

Voting in four districts of West Bengal in the fifth and last phase came to an end today with 65 percent voting.

Almost 65 lakh people cast their vote in four districts - North and South Dinajpur, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri. The number of seats being contested today is 8342.

West Bengal has been witnessing violence due to clashes amongst different party workers since the panchayat polls began in the state on July 11.

The first four phases were held on July 11, 15, 19 and 22. Votes will be counted on July 29.
