England's limited-overs wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has said that he is hoping to model his game on Australian wicketkeeping legend Adam Gilchrist in a bid to force his way into the Test team.

Buttler, who has become England's first choice one-day and Twenty20 wicketkeeper, was named by new head coach Peter Moores in his first England squad to face Scotland on Friday.

According to the BBC, Buttler said that Gilchrist, who averaged 47.60 in 96 Tests, won three Ashes series and three World Cups, changed the role of the wicketkeeper by playing aggressive and attacking innings, which he is hoping to emulate.

An innovative and powerful shot-maker, Buttler, who has a strike rate of more than 120 runs per 100 balls in each form of the game, believes his style could be exactly what England need following the jettisoning of seasoned game-changer Kevin Pietersen.
