Laying the foundation stone of Eastern Peripheral Expressway here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said his government wants to connect coastlines and ports with roads so that opportunities are manifold and economy benefits.
"Kabhi kabhi logon kay mann mei vichaar aata hai ki paise hote hain to raaste bante hain; haqiqat hai ki raaste bante hain to paise aate hain (Money flows in when roads are constructed), said the Prime Minister, adding these roads are not just towards a destination, but towards development of Haryana.
Stating that Korea is one of the developed nations in the world, and their infrastructure has contributed to its development a lot, Prime Minister Modi said: "In our nation, governments end up in dilemma - whether a road built by them will fetch them votes. But, in the long run, we have to gain people's trust, which is essential to strengthen infrastructure," said the Prime Minister.
"In the past five months, I have held video conferencing with States, asking them about pending projects. Projects worth Rs.4 lakh crore have restarted. When a project starts builders get job, people get opportunity towards employment and infrastructure also adds to the development of the nation," said Prime Minister Modi.
'Bharat Mala' Project aims at joining various districts of India to National Highways.
