The oldest-known "Batmobile" is going under the hammer by Heritage Auctions, it has been revealed.
The custom car, which was designed in the early 1960s, was built by New Hampshire teenager Forrest Robinson, simply to tool around town himself, Fox News reported.
The Batmobile, which was completed in 1963, two years before Barris began to build the famous version of Batman's ride for the TV show 'Batman,' caught the eye of a representative for All Star Dairy that was selling a line of Batman ice cream and drink products at the time.
The company leased the car for Robinson for a few years to use at promotional events, but never got it officially licensed as a "Batmobile" and then it was sold a few times and neglected after which it finally end up on eBay in 2013.
Sid Belzberg, owner of ToyCarExchange.com, bought it and after a full, 1,700 man-hour restoration, it won the first car show it was entered in.
Absentee bidding opens on November 17th and the hammer comes down on December 6th, with the opening bid being 90,000 dollars.
