Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi has blamed Iran for destabilizing the country saying that Houthi rebels are "stooges of Iran".

According to BBC, correspondents said that the conflict is a proxy war between Sunnu Arab nations and Shia Iran.

Hadi's statement came at an Arab League summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, days after having to flee Yemen as rebels advanced on his stronghold of Aden.

Yemeni Foreign Minister Riad Yassin said that he planned to stay overseas until the situation settled.
