Youth should not get disappointed by failures: Rahul

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday vouched for entrepreneurship among youth and said a bank needs to be created for finance related issue.

Interacting with students in Guwahati, Gandhi said that youth should not get disappointed by failures and should keep trying for fruitful results.

"In order to build entrepreneurship we need to connect you to a bank for finance. We need to protect you when you fail. For example, in the United States if you go bank corrupt, it is not a shame. But it is 'he failed once, he will try again'. Whereas in India it will be 'My God you failed!' So here there is a culture where failure is s seen as a very bad thing," said Gandhi.

Gandhi added that the system should maintain an attitude to learn from failures and present system in India does not serve the end user.

However, on being asked about his future agendas regarding the presently imposed Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFPSA) in Manipur, Gandhi avoided the question.

"You cannot solve problems by using force against people. There is a place to use force; there are times to use force. But, you will get a solution when people come, talk, communicate with each other and finally they will have the power to fulfil their dreams," said Gandhi.

AFSPA gives security forces sweeping powers to search arrest or shoot people. Among other powers, AFSPA allows security forces to fire upon, or use force against an assembly of five or more people, or anyone in possession of a deadly weapon. It gives legal immunity to the officials, so they can be neither sued nor prosecuted.

Meanwhile, Gandhi also referred to a recent case of Nido Taniam from Arunachal Pradesh, who died due to an alleged racial attack by the shopkeepers in the Lajpat Nagar area of South Delhi, which led to outrage and protests from the northeastern community.

"I don't want roads and electricity, if Nido goes to Delhi and is treated badly because he comes from the northeast. We don't want an India where one religion believes that the country does not belong to another and we don't want an India where women are scared," added Gandhi.
