Youtube will soon stop working on myriad old devices due to a new update, a report said.
According to The Verge, special-made YouTube apps will no longer function on devices made in 2012 or earlier, thanks to a change YouTube's Data API, which Google said will open it up to features like comments, captions, RSS push notifications, and flagging videos.
The list of devices which would no longer be able to support YouTube include, older TVs and Blu-ray disc players from Sony and Panasonic, Google TV devices running version 3 or 4, game consoles without support for Adobe Flash or HTML5, along with iOS devices running anything less than iOS 7. The change will also impact second-generation Apple TV and will require its users to start videos on their iPhones, iPods, and iPads and then stream them using AirPlay.
