Ford India is banking high on the its débutante compact sedan; indeed 'Figo concept' (in compact sedan avatar) was the show stopper at the Ford's Pavilion at the Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. Speaking in this context, the next generation Figo and compact sedan will be sharing faces and is reportedly the first products to roll out from the Ford's upcoming facility in Gujarat. Now, under Ford's 'One Ford' policy in which we got the global products like EcoSport and Fiesta in India, company's next global small car KA and sedan KA+ are our Figo and it's twin-compact sedan. Both the cars have already made their way in Brazil as the production version of the Figo concept from the Expo.
Ford Brazil says that they have tried to keep the maintenance cost of both the vehicle to more on the economical side compared to imminent rivals in the Brazil. Adding to it, as we will be getting the same cars with similar engine expect the cost of ownership of the duo in India to be as low as possible.
"Ford conducted a comprehensive study to address one of the main reasons consumers purchase compact cars, ie the cost of ownership over the life of the vehicle. Accordingly, before developing the New Ka , the maintenance cost is an item that deserves special attention," stated, Joaquim de Arruda Pereira, Manager, Marketing Customer Service, Ford.
As Ford in India is always clichéd to dug deep inside your wallet when it comes to maintenance and repairs. But starting with the Figo, then EcoSport and the new Fiesta, Ford India has done heavy localization to keep the parts competitive with rivals. Expect heavy localization on these upcoming Figo-duo to keep the price as low as possible along with the overall cost of ownership!
