James bond movies have always featured some amazing cars. But this time, they have taken a step forward and introduced exclusive cars. As Mr. 007 drives in his DB10, he is chased by his nemesis in a Jaguar C-X75. And as the characters, the Jag is truly a worthy competitor to the DB10. It seems all the attention is being catered by the Aston, so lets shed some light on the C-X75.
Introduced in 2010, the C-X75 kicked-off ‘a new chapter in innovation and technological advancement’ in Jaguar. And in just 2 years, it was made into a working prototype of an all-wheel drive, plug-in parallel hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with loads of power and Jaguar's first carbon composite monocoque chassis. Talking about performance, the C-X75 has a combined power output in excess of 850 hp and 1000Nm of torque, courtesy of its Formula 1-inspired, 1.6-litre dual-boosted (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder powerhouse which generates 501 hp at 10,000 rpm. All this is mated to a 7-speed automated manual transmission that allows gearshifts in under 200 milliseconds.
The battery pack in the C-X75 delivers more than 300kW over the full state of the charge. This Jaguar achieves 0-160kph in less than six seconds. The very first C-X75 prototype exceeded 321kph in testing with ease, and the car has a theoretical maximum velocity of 354kph.
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar says “The C-X75 programme represents the pinnacle of Jaguar's engineering and design expertise. It is arguably the world's fastest test-bed for the world's most advanced technologies, combining as it does a remarkable hybrid powertrain with awe-inspiring performance. Jaguar is always looking to shape the cars of tomorrow and with projects like C-X75 we are laying the foundations for the next generation of Jaguar innovations.”
